Dan Monez was born just over the Napa County line in Gordon Valley. Dan’s family were third generation Solano County farmers and he grew up working in the orchards and selling fruit in his family’s many fruit stands. Going to elementary school in a small agricultural community allowed Dan to enjoy “multi-culturalism” long before the term became popular. In literally a two-room schoolhouse for his first 4 grades, Dan learned his ABC’s alongside first and second-generation immigrant kids from Mexico, the Philippines, China, Japan, and Armenia.

2010 Scholarship Banquet

Over the past 25 years, the Napa County Hispanic Network has given over 300,000 dollars in scholarships to deserving Latino students in Napa County whose only dream is to attend a college of their choice and be a productive member of our community.
